Catholic Charities Housing Services (CCHS) is developing a second phase of multi-family housing for farm workers in Royal City, which will include an early learning center.
The early learning center was made possible by developing partnerships with the city, Inspire Development Center, and a local philanthropist. Additional phases of development will include a future single-family home development and potentially a community health center.
CCHS anticipates breaking ground this fall. The development is funded with Low Income Housing Tax Credits, State Housing Trust Fund dollars and county funds.
There are more than 200 people on the waiting list at Reino del Cielo, the current farmworker housing development in Royal City. The new property will be made up of mostly three-bedroom units, and will include some four-bedroom units. The lease-up should begin in spring, with move-ins starting in late summer of 2019.
