Guided by the example of Saint Vincent de Paul, whose life was devoted to serving the poor, St. Vincent Center is a charity resource center serving the Yakima community since 1946. We are dedicated to providing food, resources, and hope for families and individuals in need.
Our thrift store offers a wide selection of attainably priced items, ensuring that people of all faiths and walks of life have access to home comfort, dignity, and self-empowerment. In collaboration with local civil resource organizations, St. Vincent Center also provides support to homeless families and unemployed job seekers, supplying both with a selection of free clothing and professional attire. Hygiene kits, kitchen starter kits, and food bank assistance are also part of St. Vincent Center's regular operations and help improve the quality of life for those experiencing homelessness or other life changing events.
Every thrift store dollar you spend, and every clothing/food/hygiene donation you make, cycles right back into the mission-sustaining efforts of St. Vincent Center.
Is St. Vincent Center a child-friendly place to shop?
Our children’s play area is a cheerful, clean, and activity filled space that children enjoy playing in while parents shop around. It's centrally located in the store, allowing you to keep an eye on your children while you shop. We offer specials every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, so there's no better time to plan your next bargain hunt.
Parents and young children are also welcome to join us every Friday from 9:00am - 12:00pm for our Play and Learn group! This weekly meeting is an opportunity to engage and explore in a warm and welcoming environment with your child, while learning about your child’s unique interests and skill level. Interested in joining our growing group of parents and children? Learn more about Play and Learn on our website.
We are always looking for more donations of food, clothing, and hygiene items!
We prefer that all clothing items be new or gently used to provide the best options to our local families. Our needs vary by the season. In the winter, we need coats, hats, gloves, boots, and other warm clothing and outerwear. In the summer, we need summer dresses, shirts, shorts, and lighter clothing. We can use items for all members of the family – men, women, and children.
We accept nearly all items but cannot accept old tube televisions, mattresses, cribs, car seats, or aquariums.
We also accept cash donations, which are used to purchase items not frequently donated like hygiene items, sleeping bags, and blankets, and to help offset our operational costs.
St. Vincent Center is a place where youth, adults, and the elderly can come and serve while learning new job skills. We value our volunteers greatly! Our food bank is entirely volunteer-led, and we can always use additional help. Shifts vary but typically run from 7:45am – 11:15am on Tuesdays and Fridays.
We can always use additional support in the store as well. These are typically longer, more regular shifts, managed by a schedule.
