A Christmas Made Possible by Community Care
Thanks to a partnership between Catholic Charities and Care Moses Lake, a brighter Christmas was given to 75 children living across Moses Lake and Grant County.
Through their Giving Tree project, Care Moses Lake placed six Christmas trees at area businesses (Red Door Café, Favored Farmhouse, WaFd Bank, Plume, and CJs Meats), offering the community a chance to really make a difference in a child’s life. From the trees, people selected tags with Christmas wishes of local children and purchased the gifts.
Many of those presents were for children from Catholic Charities Play and Learn Groups. Heidy Granados, Early Learning & Family Engagement Specialist, and group facilitator for Catholic Charities Play and Learn groups, was thrilled to partner with Care Moses Lake.
“Many of the families served through the Giving Tree program work in agriculture and have experienced the loss of a job. Some have lost family members, or have faced challenges due to recent immigration enforcement laws in our communities. This past Christmas, we really wanted to focus on supporting families most in need, and Care Moses Lake made that possible."

“The greatest reward was seeing the smiles on the children’s faces as they received their Christmas gifts,” she says. “The generosity of the community gave these children a Christmas to remember.”
