A First Christmas with Twins, Made Brighter by Christmas Hope
As the saying goes, “Having a baby changes everything.”
And having two babies? Well, most of us can only imagine.
Neveah Davis is one such mother, who welcomed her twins into the world in June 2025. Lorenzo and Lovella are thriving; and Neveah is on a steep learning curve of how to be a single parent. “It was certainly a shock finding out", says Neveah, “and there are days when it’s difficult. But they are for sure a blessing that I really needed.”
Fortunately, Neveah’s grandmother is a Companion with the PREPARES program, a ministry of volunteers who walk the parenting journey with new mothers and families. Part mentor, part resource guide and part friend, Companions support with non-judgmental listening, offer helpful parenting skills and ideas, and help parents connect with other resources available in the community. It was only natural that when Neveah reached out to Catholic Charities for some support in this new chapter of her life, her grandmother, Norka, already a trained PREPARES Companion, offered to take her on.
One of the resources that Norka was able to offer to Neveah and her new family was Christmas Hope, an annual Catholic Charities program. Through Christmas Hope, schools, workplaces, and individuals sponsor families by providing Christmas gifts to each family member. Each sponsor ensures that children and parents receive a few things they really need - from toothbrushes and laundry detergent to clothing and bed sheets - as well as age-appropriate developmental toys, books, board games, and small toys.

When asked how Christmas Hope had impacted her first Christmas with the babies, Neveah’s eyes sparkled. “One of the things I really needed was bigger car seats,” she explains, “They barely fit in their little ones. I bawled my eyes out when I saw the gifts! It felt so good knowing that my babies are so loved!”
“I love being a mother and really want to be the best one I possibly can be,” she says. “I am so grateful for the generosity of people and Catholic Charities. I know right now I can’t get my babies all the things that I’d like to, but with Christmas Hope, I was able to get the most important things I really needed and wanted them to have. I feel so fortunate to have been a part of it!”
Through Catholic Charities’ Christmas Hope initiative, together we have the privilege of helping change lives through gift donations. In 2025, with the support of over 60 sponsors we served 91 families, bringing Christmas joy and hope to over 450 individuals across Central Washington! This holiday season we were once again reminded what Christmas is truly about, bringing hope to life for those most in need.

This generational impact would not be possible without the support of the countless supporters across our three regional offices. Thank you and blessings to all the families, businesses, churches and groups that came together to make this an unforgettable Christmas for so many:
